Role of OGRA

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) calculates the prices of petroleum products based on fluctuations in global oil rates and the rupee’s exchange rate against the US dollar. This ensures that domestic fuel prices reflect global market trends, which are reviewed every 15 days in Pakistan.

Impact of the Changes

While petrol prices remain steady, the marginal reduction in diesel rates is likely to benefit industries, transporters, and the agriculture sector, where diesel is extensively used. Consumers are encouraged to monitor future adjustments as global oil prices and currency rates continue to influence the local market.
