Lahore Punjab Weather Update

Lahore Punjab Weather Update – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more intermittent monsoon rains with heavy falls and gusty winds for Lahore and several parts of Punjab. These conditions are expected from Wednesday night through Friday, bringing significant rainfall to the region.

Deep Depression Over Sindh Drives Weather System

The PMD has identified a deep depression over Nagarparkar and adjacent coastal areas of Sindh as the primary weather system driving these conditions. This depression will likely move west/southwestwards within the next 24 hours, allowing strong monsoon currents to penetrate southern parts of Pakistan. Additionally, a westerly wave is expected to influence the upper regions of the country starting tomorrow.

Regions Expected to Receive Heavy Rainfall

As a result, heavy monsoon rains are predicted across a wide swath of Punjab, including cities such as Murree, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Multan, and Bahawalpur, among others. The rain is expected to be particularly intense in areas like Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, and Lahore, raising concerns about potential landslides in the hilly regions of Murree and Galliyat, as well as the possibility of urban flooding in major cities, including Lahore, Sahiwal, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad.

Temperature and Humidity Levels in Lahore

In Lahore, the maximum temperature on Thursday and Friday is expected to remain between 33-35°C, with relative humidity reaching 85% in the evening.

Recent Rainfall Measurements Across Punjab

Recent rainfall measurements across Punjab further highlight the ongoing wet conditions. Kot Addu recorded the highest rainfall at 50 mm, followed by Okara with 49 mm and Bahawalnagar with 44 mm. In Lahore, the airport received 16 mm of rain, while the city recorded 12 mm. Other areas, such as Sahiwal, Multan, and Sargodha, also experienced significant rainfall.
